Program characteristics/description: The five year program involves a four year and six months course of theoretical study and a final half year project in ergonomics. Theoretical course consists of lectures, seminars and laboratory exercises. All disciplines are grouped into four categories: 1. The Humanities and Social-Economics disciplines: Foreign Language (usually English), Russian History, World Culture, Political Science, Law, Psychology and Pedagogy, Russian Language and Style of Speaking, Sociology, Philosophy, Economics. 2. The Mathematics and Natural Sciences: Mathematics (linear algebra, analytic geometry, mathematical analysis, theory of probability and mathematical statistics), Informatics, Physics, Engineering Mechanics, Chemistry, Ecology, Basics of Human Anatomy, Physiology and Biophysics. 3. The common professional disciplines: Ergonomics Principle, Basics of Biochemistry, Basics of Physiology, Hygiene and Occupational Psychology, Anthropometry and Biomechanics in Ergonomics, Quality Management, Certification and Standardization, Basics of Metrology (Measurements), Safety and Well-Being, System Analysis and Modelling the Human-Machine Systems (Mathematical and Simulation Modelling), Theory of Control Systems, Descriptive Geometry, Technical and Computer Drawing, Electrotechnics, Electronics and Microprocessor Engineering, Resistance of Materials, Basics of Machines and Devices Designing, Materials and Technology, Measurement of Technical and Medico-Biologic Values, Protection of Intellectual Property and Patenting. 4. The special ergonomics disciplines: Ergonomics for Industrial and Engineering Systems Designing, Ergonomics for Display Systems and Human-Machine Interaction Designing, Ergonomics Assessment of Engineering and Manufacturing Systems and Consumer Products, Habitability of Workplaces, Professional Psychophysiological Selection and Training of Operators, Engineering Systems and Consumer Products Designing, Ergonomics and Marketing, Ergonomics for Socio-Technical Systems. Students can specialize in final half year of theoretical course. The specialization and the content are established by the university. Finally a five month project is carried out, usually in association with a company. The results of this project are presented to an examination board which makes decision about the professional qualification. Back to the education page |
