There are three high school (university) specialities on ergonomics and adjoining areas in Russian Federation:
- 220101 - Ergonomics
- 030301 - Psychology ("Occupational and Engineering Psychology" specialization)
- 070601 - Design ("Industrial Design" specialization)
The education speciality on ergonomics has been established in Russia in 2003. IREA was one of the main initiators who promoted training of professional ergonomists in Russia. The IREA members created the State Educational Standard on Ergonomics which has been approved by Russian Educational Board. The 2006 Prize of Russian Federation Government in the area of education was presented to the persons who established the high school speciality on ergonomics and created a set of training and methodological materials.

At the present time three Russian university are realizing an ergonomics educational program to train engineers in ergonomics, namely:
- Moscow State Aviation Technological University (MATI),
- Saint Petersburg State Electrotechnical University (LETI),
- Tver Institute of Ergonomics and Social-Economics Technologies.
The Education Methodology Commission on Ergonomics provides a methodological support and promotion of the ergonomics speciality. The Commission (list, 31 KB) integrates of the principal Russian ergonomists which represent universities, research institutes, and IREA. The chairman of the Commission is Igor G. Gorodetsky, Ph.D. (Chemistry), Prof., Head of Ergonomics and Information-Measuring Systems Department, Moscow State Aviation Technological University.
There is the scientific speciality for a postgraduate education in ergonomics titled as 190003 - Occupational Psychology, Engineering Psychology, Ergonomics. The Dissertation Council is working under IREA patronage for graduation of scientific qualifications Ph.D. and D.Sc. in ergonomics.
